About WGES CleanSteps^® WindPower

WGES CleanSteps^® WindPower is green power from regional wind farms. As the first energy supplier to offer wind power with electricity to customers in the Mid-Atlantic region, Washington Gas Energy Services, Inc. (WGES) has a long history of making green energy an affordable option. Residences and small businesses can choose to have 50% or 100% of their electricity come from WGES CleanSteps^® WindPower. Large businesses can add any percentage of WGES CleanSteps^® WindPower to their electricity supply sourced either nationally or locally.

Electricity from wind power is better for the environment because it avoids the environmental and health impacts associated with drilling, mining, transporting and burning conventional fuels. The more wind power you use, the more you’ll help decrease the emissions produced from these carbon-based fuels.

How much of an improvement can you make? Every 10,000 kilowatt hours of WGES CleanSteps^® WindPower has the environmental equivalency of taking one car off the road for a full year.

In 2011, the collective environmental benefit from all WGES CleanSteps^® WindPower purchases by customers in Maryland, Pennsylvania, D.C. and Delaware was equal to:

• Taking over 19,000 cars off the road for one year
• Replacing nearly 123 million kilowatt hours of energy from non-renewable sources
• Eliminating 100,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂)
