Choose WGES CleanSteps® WindPower & Help Philly Become the Nation's #1 Green Power Community
EPA Green Power Community Challenge
The Green Power Community (GPC) challenge is a voluntary national campaign launched by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that encourages cities, towns and municipalities and their local government, businesses and residents to use green power products, such as wind power, to reduce the environmental impacts associated with conventional electricity use.
This June, Philadelphia joined 33 other communities across the nation competing to see which one can achieve the most use of green power. Washington, D.C. now holds the title of the #1 Green Power Community, and Philadelphia entered the race as #2. The EPA plans to announce the two winning communities in September 2012.
Support Philadelphia with Affordable Wind Power from WGES.
To support Philadelphia's goal of becoming the Nation's #1 Green Power Community, through September 2012, WGES has special wind power offers for Philadelphia residents and businesses in the PECO service territory. The special offers, for new WGES customers, are priced less or about the same as what they currently pay PECO for their standard electricity supply. Current WGES customers can also support the challenge by increasing your amount of wind power.
Households and small businesses in the Philadelphia area can choose to have 50% or 100% of their electricity supply come from regionally-sourced WGES CleanSteps® WindPower. Large businesses can add any percentage sourced either nationally or regionally. After choosing WGES CleanSteps® WindPower, you'll continue to have your electricity delivered by your utility company, requiring no special equipment or installation.
